What are the necessary student requirements?

Depending on the specific area of student placement, students should already have acquired basic theoretical knowledge in terms of their course work and through the selection of areas of specialization that relate to the department where the student is placed. As an international family business, work or study experience abroad in the context of studying a semester abroad or completing an internship abroad are of great interest to Woco. Students should also be able to identify with Woco as an employer in addition to being suitable in terms of technical specialization. Open-minded, creative, motivated and loyal team players perfectly complement our Woco family.

What are Woco's expectations of the students?

Student employees, interns, bachelor's degree candidates or master's degree candidates will all be given the opportunity to contribute to and advance exciting projects within the scope of Woco's “daily business” and their area of specialization. Potential candidates should be independent learners characterized by a creative approach to finding solutions who approach new tasks with enthusiasm. Maintaining a strong bond among colleagues plays an important role at Woco and this also applies to the collaboration with students in that they are expected to be reliable, ask questions in case of ambiguities and contribute to the overall success of the department. Plus, whenever something does not work out as expected, it is important to address mistakes openly because we all learn from mistakes.

What are the advantages of a final paper that is based on hands-on experience gained in an international family business?

A selection of current project topics available in the areas of specialization is presented as early as during the interview phase with the candidates. We try to ensure that the topics are consistent with the contents and areas of specialization of the corresponding course work as well as the interests of the students in the selection process. The paper drafting period is characterized by strong support because the outcome of the final paper and the completion and analysis involving the project represent an added value for the corresponding business unit of the company. A student can grow immensely through the completion process involved in writing a final paper and this process can further hone the skills of a student.

What kind of perspectives does Woco offer students following the completion of their final paper?

Woco frequently assigns students to a variety of “activities” for long-term projects. The combination of student employment followed by a (full-time) mandatory internship and a final paper is common at Woco. The benefits of long-term collaboration with students are apparent because students then have had sufficient time to become established as team members and have built their own internal network.
