Woco India: New Plant with Great Prospects

With the Asia II location, Woco is creating new prospects for growth. Both Woco Tech plants in India are currently expanding their production capacities to be able to handle the increasing volume of orders placed by national and international customers.

The Kandla plant is being restructured to enable handling more sales per square meter. To this end, more space was created in the production facility for further machinery. For Woco Tech Noida, a plant relocation is even planned: The production area, which currently encompasses an area of 5,600 square meters, will be relocated to a new plant, 34 km away, in Greater Noida (Uttar Pradesh), which offers almost triple the production area with 15,000 square meters. There is also room for future expansion there: The lot offers an area of 31,000 square meters. The employees at Woco Noida celebrated the completion of the new plant building on July 16 with a traditional prayer service to Lord Ganesha, who is a part of every Hindu prayer service and is supposed to bring good fortune.

The production operations of Woco Tech  Noida will be relocated in several phases to the new location in Greater Noida. The relocation task is anticipated to be completed during the second quarter of 2019.
Two of the production lines (one for plastics and one for Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR)) have already been relocated to Greater Noida; production test runs are currently in progress. Furthermore, the new plant build-ing will be equipped with state-of-the-art machinery, which will include an ultrasonic welding and foam bead machine used for the production of dashboard grommets for VW and Jaguar Land Rover, an o-ring inspection machine for checking profile gaskets, as well as a fully automatic LSR production system for the 100T Arburg machine, which  comprises a 32-nozzle cold runner and a needle closing system for the production of connector gaskets. Both of these systems are used for manufacturing parts for Yazaki India.

The Vice President of Yazaki India, Shigeo Hosokawa, was the first customer to visit the new plant in July 2018 when he saw both Yazaki machines in action. He commended Woco Tech Noida for its technical expertise and its plans for growth, and he assured that for Yazaki, Woco Noida would become one of the preferred strategic suppliers of rubber and plastic parts as well as for India and the rest of the world.

The new plant has put us in a favorable  position to also meet the demands of OEMs from India, like Maruti Suzuki and Honda, as well as those of numerous other Tier 1  customers, such as MAHLE BEHR, Subros and Aptiv (formerly Delphi). All customers in India have been informed and process audits have been scheduled with both OEMs and Tier 1 customers at the new production site. As the first European OEM, Daimler visited and audited the plant in September 2018. We achieved the “yellow” status and  anticipate receiving the “green” status of approval once installation of the HVAC system is completed.
The expansion of capacities of Woco Tech Noida provides the basis for further growth. The new plant will help to further strengthen our position in the manufacture of automotive components in India. Wocos’s strategy for its activities in India of expanding the product range from simple rubber and plastic components to complex plastic assemblies in the area of drive systems is thus being put into practice. Our plans for growth were well received by a number of OEMs in India, such as FORD, VW, Renault Nissan, TATA Motors and Hyundai.
